Streets

The majority of records in this website include a street name.  There are however variations in the spellings so what appears to be two different streets may in fact be the same street.

In the Brampton area of Chesterfield a number of streets were given the suffix West.  For example modern-day maps show an Alma Street West, but there is apparently no Alma Street.  Yet some records are recorded as Alma Street.  This may simply be that the person giving or recording the original information did not bother with the West.  More complicated scenarios also arise.  Within Chesterfield there is a Hipper Street, a Hipper Street South and a Hipper Street West.  There is thus some uncertainty when an address simply states Hipper Street.

Furthermore many instances of addresses do not include a town name (see Addresses), so Alma Street could conceivably refer to Alma Street in Sheffield.
