These records include both burials and the burial of ashes. 

Burials normally take place within a short period after the death of the person. However in the case of the burial of ashes, there can be a significant difference (sometimes years) between the date of death and the date of burial.
Note that the term “date of burial” is used to refer to the date that ashes were interred.

In the majority of records, the date of burial has been recorded; in only a relatively small number of cases is the date of death also recorded.
