Filtering

You can restrict the number of records found when you search by using one or more of the filters.

The first filter allows you to restrict the search results to those people whose surname begins with a particular letter.

The second filter works similarly but uses a person’s forename (i.e. their first name).

The third filter restricts search results to people known to have been living on a particular street.  This can be particularly useful as members of the same family often lived on the same street.

Some examples are:

  • Leave the Search Box blank and select T from the Surname filter. When you click the submit button all of the burial records for people whose surname begins with T will be listed
  • Leave the Search Box blank and select A from the Forename filter. When you click the submit button all of the burial records for people whose forename begins with A will be listed
  • Leave the Search Box blank and select T from the Surname filter and M from the Forename filter. When you click the submit button all of the burial records for people whose surname begins with T and whose forename begins with M will be listed
  • Leave the Search Box blank and select Chatsworth Road from the Street filter.  When you click the submit button all of the burial records for people whose records show them as living on Chatsworth Road will be listed
  • Leave the Search Box blank and select W from the Surname filter and Old Road from the Street filter.  When you click the submit button all of the burial records for people whose surname begins with W and whose address is shown as Old Road will be listed
